In order to achieve the subfloor height deviation tolerance of +/- 2mm over a 3m area a combination of Mapei Renovation self levelling compound and 5.5mm plywood was used, whereas 5.5mm plywood was used to clad the stairs.
The engineered boards have been laid free floating above Duralay acoustic underlay to the landing and hallways, with each board bonded tongue to groove using Lecol PVAC wooden flooring adhesive.
Every board and stairnosing has been fixed to the staircase using a combination of pins and Lecol MS262 adhesive, with Bona dark oak gapmaster used to fill all minor pin holes.
All expansion gaps left around the perimeter were masked using a combination of white primed quadrant and solid oak lacquered cornbread.
Brushed and matt lacquered; the texture and colour of the oak boards have brought an abundance of character and colour to this beautiful family home.
