In order to achieve the subfloor height deviation tolerance of +/- 2mm over a 3m area a combination of Mapei Renovation self levelling compound & 5.5mm plywood was used.
The engineered boards have been laid free floating above Duralay acoustic underlay with each board bonded tongue to groove using Mapei PVA wooden flooring adhesive.
Great care was taken when setting out to lay the kitchen’s flooring so it marries up with the existing board’s throughout the hallway. The area’s have been transitioned to one another using a solid oak door threshold.
To mask the expansion gap left for the floor to expand and contract throughout the seasons new skirting board’s were installed by a third party. Alternatively 22mm solid oak lacquered flat-plate was installed to the base of the external door and tiling.
