To achieve the subfloor height deviation tolerance of +/- 2mm over a 3m area a combination of Mapei self levelling compound and 6mm plywood was used in conjunction with the original floorboards.
The oak boards have been laid free floating above Duralay acoustic underlay with each board bonded tounge to groove using Lecol PVAC wooden flooring adhesive.
Once the flooring installation was complete white quadrant was fixed to the perimeter of the floor space whilst a solid oak flatplate was fixed where the flooring meets the cooker. Both products were used to mask the expansion gap left for the flooring to expand and contract naturally.
The job was finalised with the fixings of solid oak radiator roses.
