In order to achieve the height deviation tolerance of +/- 2mm over a 3m area a subfloor of 6mm plywood was constructed.
The timber has been laid free-floating above Duralay acoustic underlay which aids to reduce the amount of impact sound underfoot entering the rooms below; each oak board has been bonded tounge to groove using Lecol PVAC wood flooring adhesive.
Once the flooring installation was complete skirting boards were fixed to mask the expansion gap left for the flooring to expand and contract naturally.
The ABC graded oak boards create a mix of planks which are free from large knots combined with those including large knots, this provides a natural looking floor but not overly knotty. Alternatively the brushed finish adds texture to the boards whilst the matt lacquer offers minimal light reflection.
