To achieve the subfloor height deviation tolerance of +/- 2mm over a 3m area our fitting team replaced the original joists in areas where the structure had almost completely rotten away causing the subfloor to drop off substantially in many areas across the ground floor. Once all joist work was complete a combination of 18mm plywood, FBall Stopgap 700 levelling compound & the original floorboards was used to form the subfloor.
The engineered oak boards have been laid free floating above Duralay acoustic underlay with each board bonded tounge-to-groove using Lecol PVAC wooden flooring adhesive.
Once the flooring installation was complete sticks of solid oak flatplate were fixed to the perimeter of both fireplaces to mask the expansion gap left for the flooring to expand and contract naturally, whilst coir matting was installed to the hallway entrance.
The job was finalised with the fixings of solid oak radiator roses.
