Here our parquet blocks have been fitted above a pre-prepared subfloor of 9mm plywood, with Mapei Renovation self levelling compound being used to achieve the height deviation tolerance of +/- 3mm over a 3m area.
Each block has been fitted tongue to groove whilst adhered to the subfloor using Sika T54 Parquet Adhesive.
Once the entire floor had been laid the oak blocks were sanded on site before Lecol 5500 filler was used to fill any imperfections across the floor and left to cure overnight.
The next day the floor was sanded to a 120 grit before a coat of Bona Umbra Craft Oil was applied and left again to cure overnight. The next day 2 x coats of Bona Traffic HD Silkmatt Lacquer were applied to protect the floor for years to come.
Once the lacquer had fully cured a combination of white primed quadrant and 22mm oak flatplate was fixed to mask the expansion gap left around the perimeter of the floorspace, whilst oak thresholds were used to transition parquet to floor tiles.
