In order to achieve the subfloor height deviation tolerance of +/- 2mm over a 3m area a combination of Mapei Renovation self levelling compound and 5.5mm plywood was used over the original first floor floorboards.
The engineered boards have been laid free floating above Duralay acoustic underlay with each board bonded tounge to groove using Lecol PVAC wooden flooring adhesive.
Once the flooring installation was complete the expansion gap left around the perimeter of the floorspace for the oak boards to expand and contract was masked using a combination of white primed quadrant and 22mm solid oak flatplate stained to match the flooring, whilst radiator roses in the same colour were fitted to the base of the radiator pipes.
The job was finalised with the fixings of three solid oak door profiles stained to match the flooring to transition the hallway into the bedrooms and bathroom, whilst two solid oak stairnosing’s in the same colour were installed to the top step of each staircase.
Smoked and brushed; the texture and colour of the oak boards has bought an abundance of character and warmth to this beautiful family home.
