The parquet blocks have been fitted above a pre-prepared plywood subfloor which meets the height deviation tolerance of +/- 2mm under a 3m straight edge, each block has been fitted tongue to groove whilst adhered to the subfloor using Sika T54 Parquet Adhesive.
Once the entire floor had been laid the oak blocks were carefully sanded using an orbital sander to a 120 grit finish to remove any glue residue before a prime coat of Bone Mega Matt lacquer was applied and left to cure overnight.
The next day the floor was buffed using a buffing machine to suppress the raised wood grain and a final two coats of Bona Mega Matt lacquer was applied.
To mask the expansion gap left for the floor to expand and contract naturally a combination pre-primed white oak quadrant and 22mm solid oak lacquered flatplate was used, whilst a solid oak lacquered door bar was used to transition the bedroom to hallway.
