Here our tumbled parquet blocks have been fitted above a concrete subfloor. In order to meet the height deviation tolerance of +/- 2mm under a 3m straight edge FBall Stopgap 1200 levelling compound was used where necessary. Once all levelling works were complete the subfloor was treated with Sika Primer MB to help suppress any rising moisture.
Each block has been fitted tounge to groove whilst adhered to the subfloor using Sika T54 Parquet Adhesive.
Once the entire floor had been laid the tumbled oak blocks were hand sanded on site before any noticeable gaps were filled using Lecol 7500 Filler.
To achieve a more natural-to-the-touch finish two coats of Osmo Clear Matt Polyx-Oil was chosen to protect the floor.
The job was finalised once all solid oiled oak scotia’s were fixed to the perimeter of the flooring to mask the expansion gap left for the blocks to expand and contract naturally, whilst solid oiled oak door trims were installed for a neat finish between rooms.
