The parquet blocks have been fitted above a plywood subfloor which meets the height deviation tolerance of +/- 2mm under a 3m straight edge. Each block has been fitted tongue to groove whilst adhered to the plywood subfloor using Sika T54 Parquet Adhesive.
Once the entire floor had been laid the tumbled oak blocks were hand sanded on site using an orbital sander rather than a belt sander to preserve the tumbled finish followed by a base coat of Bona Mega Matt lacquer and two coats of Bona Traffic HD Matt lacquer.
The job was finalised with the fixings of 22mm solid oak lacquered flat-plates to mask the expansion gap left for the parquet to expand and contract naturally where the flooring meets the glass doors.
